Fernando del Rincón

With more than 20 years of experience in broadcast journalism here and in his native Mexico, he is considered one of the foremost news professionals and political analysts in both countries, having worked both in radio and television on a variety of local and national news programs.

For six years Fernando co-hosted Univision Network’s highly rated news show “Primer Impacto” and prime time show “Ver Para Creer”. Prior to joining Univision, he was part of the TeleFutura news team and during his first few years in the United States covered such important stories as the start of the Iraq war, the California wildfires, the Papal visit of Pope John Paul II to Mexico, and the Pope passing in Vatican City, among others.

Before coming to the U.S., Del Rincón served for three years as the principal host and reporter for the number-one nationally rated news program in Mexico, “Duro y Directo”, as well as a featured reporter on the investigative program “Fuera de La Ley.”

Del Rincón began his career in broadcasting at the age of 16, hosting a young adult show on XHKR Estereo Fiel radio station in Chiapas, Mexico. Shortly thereafter, he began working for the first time as an on camera reporter and produced his own special segments for Televisa-Chiapas. His broadcasting success in Chiapas led to an important position with the local channel in Aguascalientes, Mexico, as both producer and host of the program “Punto Joven.”  His journalistic accomplishments caught the attention of executives of a major national Mexican network and he was appointed to supervise Televisa Network news programming for its outlet in Monterrey, Mexico. In this capacity, he worked on various investigative articles and conducted numerous interviews with a wide variety of celebrated personalities such as famous singer Juan Gabriel, former Nobel Peace Prize winner Rigoberta Menchu, Argentinean military criminal Ricardo Miguel Cavallo, writer and intellect Carlos Fuentes, and Former President of Mexico Vicente Fox.

In 2006, Del Rincón joined Eva Longoria to serve as a PADRES Contra El Cáncer (PADRES) Spokesperson.  He has dedicated countless hours in support of PADRES’ mission and commitment to improving the quality of life for Latino children with cancer and their families.

In May 2008 Fernando was diagnosed with bladder cancer. To read more about Fernando’s bout with cancer Click Here
