PADRES Delivers Hope to NHL All-Star for the Holidays

In December, Luc Robitaille of the Los Angeles Kings received the best holiday gift of all – the gift of hope- when PADRES families and staff delivered a truck full of clothing, toys, food, and other items to his charity, Shelter for Serenity, a non-profit dedicated to rehabilitating the lives of families affected by Hurricane Katrina.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Robitaille and his wife, Stacia, opened their Utah estate, Serenity, to families affected by the hurricane. 30 individuals have been given a second chance at a new life in the Robitaille’s own home.

“Luc has given hope to many PADRES children and their families,” said Michael Velázquez, CEO of PADRES. “Now we’re turning the tables and giving Luc items to support the hurricane victims that he is committing to helping. We hope our contribution will provide these families with the same sense of hope that Luc has given to us over the years.”

Throughout his career, Robitaille has generously supported PADRES, making countless visits to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles bringing toys to the children in the hematology and oncology units.

“Stacia and I are so touched that these families want to support our own efforts to help others in need,” said Robitaille. “To receive over 7,000 items is a gift we never expected to receive. We are so thankful for the support we have from PADRES, their beneficiaries and their donors.”
