Omar & Argelia

Omar Velasco and Argelia Atilano are the dynamic morning radio personalities who with their quick wit, charm and vibrant energy comfortably draw their loyal KLVE 107.5 FM listeners into their embrace.

As part of the Univision Radio family, Omar and Argelia are well-loved for their humor, as well as, thought-provoking commentary on politics, entertainment and social issues. The talented duo not only shares a passion for broadcasting, but also a commitment to serve the Latino community.

Omar and Argelia spent a recent afternoon with the PADRES children receiving treatment at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. As they walked through the Oncology unit, they visited with the young patients with great affection, chatting, laughing and exchanging warm hugs.

“It is very impressive that the kids are active, optimistic and smiling,” says Omar following his hospital visit. “I leave with an image of a little boy who was just turning eight and he didn’t want to let me go. That will be with me forever.”

Being a voice for these children and an advocate for their well-being is paramount to Omar and Argelia, who shared their experience visiting the PADRES children with their morning radio listeners.

“We must be a voice for our people, we must talk about the weaknesses in society and about families who feel lost and need support,” says Argelia. “I really believe that we are put on earth for a reason, and that reason is to help each other.”

Argelia, the beautiful young Chicago native, began her career producing, editing and camera directing for CBS-TV Channel 2 and later joined KABC-TV as a special projects producer. Her career skyrocketed at Telemundo where she hosted “Generacion X”, a weekly segment dealing with issues facing young adults. In addition to her morning radio show, she is also currently an entertainment correspondent for the popular Univision Television show, “Primer Impacto.”

Omar, a native of Jalisco, Mexico, came to Los Angeles in 1988 to pursue his dream of broadcasting. He landed his first DJ opportunity with Univision Radio in 1999 and also worked in the programming department where he developed his other talents such as doing voice-overs, programming and scheduling. In his spare time, Omar focuses on issues that help educate the Latino community by writing for local magazines and newspapers.
