On September 10th, 2009 PADRES celebrated its Ninth Annual 'El Sueño de ESPERANZASM Gala with hosts Eva Longoria Parker, and George Lopez at The Historic Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood, CA. The evening was presented by FARMERS INSURANCE GROUP (FARMERS). With attendees that included Amaury Nolasco, Dania Ramirez, Derek and Candace Fisher, Matt Cedeño, Jennifer Morrison, Brenda Song, Christina Perez, Kate del Castillo, Dayanara Torres and many more, the night paid tribute to the courage and heroism demonstrated every day by pediatric cancer patients and their families. The night’s festivities included a live performance by Grammy awarding winning artist Beto Cuevas, formerly of La Ley and a surprise performance by pop singer Paulina Rubio. Additional highlights from the evening included Farmers’ Insurance presenting Eva Longoria with a check for $150,000 to benefit PADRES. “El Sueño de EsperanzaSM” also recognized PADRES’ distinguished friends and colleagues for their humanitarian contributions in support of the cancer community. Honorees for last night included celebrity stylist Ken Paves and L’Oreal Paris whose direct financial contributions in support of PADRES’ and its life-saving mission, were each individually acknowledged with the ‘EL SUEÑO DE ESPERANZASM’ Award. This award acknowledges an individual / corporate partner for exemplary dedication, commitment and compassion to improving the quality of life for Latino children with cancer and their families. Along with this, the CALIFORNIA CORRECTIONAL PEACE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION (CCPOA), received the RUBY OLIVA CEDILLO TRIBUTE Award for exemplifying PADRES’ guiding values and core ideals – Honesty, Character, Integrity, Respect, Commitment to Community, and Service to Humanity.
