PADRES celebrated its Seventh Annual Fund–Raising Gala, “El Sueño de Esperanza” on Thursday October 18, 2007 at “THE Lot” in West Hollywood, CA.  The evening, which was presented by FARMERS INSURANCE GROUP, (FARMERS) and hosted by Eva Longoria and comedian George Lopez, raised over $830,000.

Attendees included, Jessica Alba, Marcia Cross, Nicollette Sheridan, Daisy Fuentes, Brenda Strong, Eva La Rue, Mario Lopez, Constance Marie, Lisa Rinna, Bully Bush, Karina Smirnoff, Fernando Del Rincon, Rex Lee, and many more.  The night paid tribute to PADRES’ extraordinary children and families. “This celebration is such an inspiring experience not only for me, but for the many friends who share in the joy and the passion of PADRES’ life – saving mission,” said Eva Longoria, who is also the National Spokesperson for PADRES. “I consider the opportunity to serve as a voice for these children and their families as one of my life’s greatest blessings.” 

“El Sueno de Esperanza” also recognized PADRES’ distinguished friends and colleagues for their humanitarian contributions in support of the cancer community. Honorees included Mr. Alex Wallau (Special Senior Advisor, The Walt Disney Company), a cancer advocate who will receive the Champion of Hope Award; Mr. Beto Cuevas (Grammy Award–Winning Recording Artist), who received the Ruby Oliva Cedillo Tribute Award; and AT&T, whose direct financial contributions in support of PADRES and its life–saving mission was acknowledged with the “El Sueno de Esperanza” Award. 

The night’s festivities included a live performance by Latin Grammy awarding winning artist Obie Bermudez and LA based band Ozomatli.  Another highlight of the evening was the live auction, where among other items, two foursomes with George Lopez auctioned off for $9500 each, Jennifer Lopez/ Mark Anthony VIP concert tickets went for $10,000 and Mario Lopez auctioned off a private dance lesson which raised an additional $6,000.
