Press Room

In 2007, AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals) joined forces with PADRES in the fight against childhood cancer by hosting our first annual Spike for HOPESM Celebrity Volleyball Match. The event took place in Hermosa Beach, CA where thousands of spectators came out to support their favorite celebrities and AVP pro players to help raise funds for PADRES.  With the success of the event and AVP’s commitment to community, PADRES was named AVP’s charitable partner for the 2009 National Tour.

With AVP’s support, the Spike for HOPE ChallengeSM campaign was created to help raise awareness about childhood cancer within the beach community and also to raise funds for PADRES programs and services.  AVPCares, the charitable division of the organization, launched the new cause marketing and fundraising campaign on April 16, 2009 that will close at the end of the season in Glendale, AZ this fall.
